To start with...
I got my offer letter from a MNC in Germany on December
21st. My HR team told me to apply work visa by my self. So I decided to apply
by my own. So I started to do research how to apply for a work visa or work
permit from Bangalore. Enquired with different consultancies regarding work
visa. But finally I decided to apply by myself because there is no difference
between applying own or through consultancy. Consultancy charges fee for
applying on behalf of you but still you are the only one to face German
consulate. I urge you not to fall in their traps.
It's simple and cheaper to apply German Visa.
The above website gave me very clear instructions how to
start with, what visa to apply or what type of visa, documents to submit,
appointments details and more.
Documents:
Except Pre approval letter from FEA, Deputation order I had
all documents to submit.
Very important: 2 sets of copies needed and should be in an
order as above mentioned list.
«
no need of original offer letter.
«
Submitted
Apollo Munich travel insurance which is valid for 6months along with other
documents.
So after setting up all the required documents which are
necessary to apply for work visa. Below is the link where we can get documents
check list or see above check list.
Apart from the check list I took all other documents which
can support for visa. Example: Salary slips and offer letter from the current
company since there is no relieving letter from the current company.
Appointment:
Tip: My suggestion to Book appointment is asap when you get
an offer letter book the appointment date.
Above website is the link to book your national visa
appointment.
This is the most important step, why because it s not that
easy to get an oppintment when you needed atleast for me.
When I opened the site I was able to get an appointment only
from mid of Feb 15th 2018 which was not
a suitable date to book the slot as I have to travel on Feb 28th to join March
1st 2018.
Tip: As per the website and
forums I see visa takes atleast 4-12weeks to get visa approval.
So I was helpless to get an appointment in January 2018.
Called up consulate to book appointment in January but remember they are also
helpless and it's not in their hands.
Going through few forums in Facebook I read that we need to
keep on trying in the website in the early hours from 3am till 6am when system
update take place so that we may get a slot. This could happen because few of
them cancel and change the oppintment dates. Yes! It's true it worked out for
me. I woke up at 4 in the morning and found one slot in January 4th 2018. I was
very happy and booked it.
Note:
if you want to change the slot please don't cancel and rebook. If you cancel
then you cannot book new slot immediately. You should again wait for 3days😢
to rebook. This happened to me unfortunately. So luckily I had a passport which
was expired and booked using it.
On another fine day i.e.., on 25th December 2017 I woke up
at 4am and found a slot on December 29th 2017 itself. But this time I rebooked
through the mail I got it. In that mail you can see two direct clickable links
to change the slot and cancel the slot. So I changed the slot using that link in
the mail. And got a confirmed mail that my appointment confirmed on December
29th 2017 at 11am 😊
Now I m bit relaxed with more pumping curiosity to attend
visa interview and get my Visa stamped.
Days passed and date has arrived.
Visa Interview:
I went to consulate early at 9 30am. Found the place and
waited for a while. I was called by security. They asked me to show appointment
letter and passport.
Both are cross verified by him seeing the list of names
which he had.
He wrote #1 on my appointment letter.
Though my appointment time was 11 I was sent inside and told
me to wait for my name to be called by the interviewer.
Looked around very few people there around 10people.
Totally there are 5 cabins. 1-4are for Indian passport
holders. 5th one is for Germans.
During my waiting time there are people being interviewed
for Family reunion (mother and 2kids) at 4th cabin where the lady was seriously
looking into the documents with random questions to mother and smiling
questions to kids. Finally interviewer asked mother to get additional
documents.

@cabin 3, student
visa: he looks very nervous facing interview. He was sent out to get a DD Xerox
copy.
Again she sent him out to set the documents properly in
order. Mean time every oneand even me started arranging the documents orderly 😉
Questions I heard:
1. Why do you want to go Germany?
2. With 10years of experience why do you want to study?
3. Why are you idle for 2 years?
4. Show accommodation details?
5. Where is the fee slip?
6. Bank details?
7. Looks your degree doesn't match to what you applied for?
Explain?
@cabin 2: Job Seeker:
Questions I heard :
1. Why are you going?
2. Which location?
3. Bank details.?
4. Accommodation?
She straight away rejected him explaining reasons,
You are degree may not be ssufficient
Insufficient funds.
accommodation not available.
@Cabin 1: National visa/Employment visa:
Some one from a MNC company I guess . He is bit loud in
answering interviewer questions😉
all documents were verfied by interviewer.
random.questions
She was asking about pre-approval doc, offer letter and
experience letter.
he showed every thing.
finally she told your done and you will recieve mail within
2 weeks.
Time s passing and I was expecting next. Time s 11 30.
Before me a guy was from TCS company. He s ready with all
the documents in the list.
Call from Interviewer, Mr. Xxxxx
Same questions as before and was told that he will get a
mail within 2weeks.
Now it's my turn, time @11 50,
Interviewer: what visa are you applying?
Me: National work visa
IN: Docs. Please
Me: Handed over both the set of documents separately.
IN: Passport photos please.
ME: Given.
Waiting... She scanned my photo and updating in her system.
IN: did you work before in Germany?
Me: yes madam it was 2011-2012
IN: are you going on deputation?
Me: no madam, it's a new job offer.
IN: company name?
Me: XXXXXX
IN: your highest degree?
Me: masters from Sweden.
IN: give me original please
Me: Gave her
She checked few things and updated in her system and told me
that she would take my Passport and Master original degree for verification.
she gave me a recipet which is a visa fee.
Well, you are done now and you recieve a mail within 4
weeks.
Finally I m done for the day and came out. I m the last
person to come out. No one behind me.
Though there are many people book appointments online but
they don't show up. This s bit kind of blockers to others.
Follow up on Visa:
Tried many times from 2pm. My call was connected at 2 40pm.
Telephone: She asked me what is the receipt number.
Me:I gave it and told my name.
Telephone: Still in process sir. Please call after 4weeks.
It's so early for you to call and hanged up.
They are bit impatient to talk as they get many calls daily
in a short time.
Again called on 8th January 2018 with no expectations.
Telephone: tell me ur receipt number or passport number
Me: told her.
Telephone: your name.
Me : told her
Telephone: Ready to Pick up!
Me: Surprised 😮what madam what did you say?
Telephone: loudly, please come and collect your passport.
Me: thanks a lot madam.
January 9th 2017:
Many people around 25-30 waiting outside at 1 30 pm before I
arrived.
Sat outside and waiting.
Conversations between me and 2 guys sitting beside me:
P1: hi which visa u guys applied
P2: student visa
Me: work visa and u?
P1: work visa from Infosys.
P1: when did u guys applied?
P2: 27th Dec
Me: 29th December and u?
P1: 28th December.
Did u guys got
any emails about Passport pickup?
P2: yes, 2 days back
Me: yes, today morning but confirmed thru call.
P1: I didn't get any. I just came if I get I will or else I
will come tomorrow because I need to travel asap.
Yes time has come, everybody in 2 lines, security check and
line number 1 for passport collection number 2 for inquiry or other pending
documents submission.
Waiting....
She took my receipt and asked whether I have any originals
or not.
If yes, she asks u to sit for a while until she calls your
name.
Like how she collected all receipts and told to sit.
One by one name was called and could see smiling faces after
opening passport pages.
My name was called, took passport and opened with curiosity.
Finally it's done .. D visa 6 months valid and after reaching Germany I should
extend it.

Well that's all about my visa experience. Hope few tips may
be helpful which you may not find in website. I consolidated gathering bfrom
different websites and forums.
All the best😊
